A delegation from National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), headed by Prof. Chia-Chien Huang, Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Duen-Yau Chuang, Chair of Department of Chemistry, Prof. Hung-Hsu Tsai, Chair of Department of Applied Mathematics and Prof. Chien-Chung Jeng, Chair of Department of Physics, visited the Graduate School of Science (GSS) on December 2nd. They met with Prof. Shin-ichi Sasa, Dean of the GSS, and Prof. Atsushi Ichino, Chair of Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, and 4 other faculties to discuss research collaboration between the two colleges.

NCHU is a national university in Taichung, Taiwan. It began as the Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry in 1919 and now has over 16,000 students. NCHU and Kyoto University signed an Academic Exchange Memorandum in 2020 and have been strengthening their collaboration since then.

The meeting began with overviews of the science faculties and graduate schools at both universities, followed by department introductions. The participants then focused on a shared challenge: how to encourage students to pursue doctoral programs, and they discussed this in depth. After that, they discussed a student exchange agreement. The visit was a valuable first step toward strengthening cooperation between the two universities.
