Two classical stains of duckweed used from 1950s

Two classical stains of duckweed have been used since the 1950s: Lemna gibba G3 (Left) and the stain of Lemna paucicostata 6746 (Right) (also named Lemna perpusilla or Lemna aequinoctialis). L. gibba flowers when the days are long. L. paucicostata flowers when the days are short. A flower is visible on both plants.
